OUR VISION
The Well is made up of two churches that are growing as apprentices of Jesus. We are doing life with Him, and connecting people to Him
10:30am | Lincombe Barn, Overndale Road, BS16 2RW
At The Well Church, we normally have a time of creative worship, an interactive discussion around a passage from the Bible, and separate, lively groups for children (age 4-10) and teenagers (age 11-16).
As a family friendly environment, we also have a space for a creche in the hall. We welcome everyone to feel relaxed to grow in relationship with others as we explore faith together, whatever stage of the journey you are at.
Our goal is to steward churches that are proactive enough to welcome everyone on a deep discipleship journey, and spacious enough to always have room for the new person exploring church or faith. We work as one church over multiple sites, being in communities that can allow us to connect to a new area, or an unreached people group.
We aim to see each member of The Well living to their fullest potential in Christ, growing in their knowledge, love and experience of God, whilst able to grow deep relationships with those around us. We are committed to seeing churches planted and/ or churches revitalised, introducing Jesus to new communities. And we are passionate about the equipping and releasing of all people (including younger people) to step into leadership and ministry positions.
We have a shop front on Downend High Street, that is our ‘public living room’. We intend to be accessible to the general public from here, and hope to welcome groups within our church to host meetings here. We also run Open the Book in the area, and are actively planning some youth outreach activities too.
We are preparing to start work in our second location from a flat we have inherited in Lockleaze. Our mission field will be in new housing developments in Lockleaze and Cheswick Village. We will be connecting with local people, contributing positively to organisations already active in the area, and preparing additional activity that would be beneficial to local people.
The Well came out of two established churches. These churches started life in homes with a handful of committed people, eager to see God move in a new way. New Life found a home in Frenchay, and Waterbrook in Stapleton. Over the years, these two churches have partnered occasionally and in 2025, this partnership was solidified further with Alpha courses, community events, and now joining together for services on Sundays too.
We have a vision to grow together, experience the Spirit of God in fresh ways, and connect with local communities through helping to plant or revitalise churches, all from a position of unity.
NLC is an independent, charismatic and evangelical church, who formally associates with the Woodlands group of churches. Together, they share the same heart and vision, especially for our own city, believing it will take all of us to see our city reached for Jesus and for it to flourish and grow.
Waterbrook Church is an Elim Network Church. We are an independent, charismatic and evangelical church, but connected to the Elim Pentecostal churches denomination. This means we can build local and regional relationships so this partnership can continue to further the Kingdom here in North Bristol, and beyond.
What’s On?
We believe that Jesus has given us the Great Command to Love God and Love others with all our hearts; and the Great Commission to Go and make disciples. Our vision for The Well builds on the independent identities and histories of the two churches, and takes inspiration from this verse for our shared future; “but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14 ESV
The Well is an independent church, but connected locally in Bristol with Woodlands, and supported nationally with Elim, agreeing to Elim’s doctrinal statements of belief
