At The Well Church, we normally have a time of creative worship, an interactive discussion around a passage from the Bible, and separate, lively groups for children (age 4-10) and teenagers (age 11-16).
As a family friendly environment, we also have a space for a creche in the hall. We welcome everyone to feel relaxed to grow in relationship with others as we explore faith together, whatever stage of the journey you are at.
We work out our vision by welcoming everyone to play a part in the church, and by being in communities that can allow us to connect to a new area or an unreached people group. Each location has unique teams that help the ministry and mission of the location, including teams for pastoral care, prayer, generations and outreach.
We have a shop front on Downend High Street, that is our ‘public living room’. We are open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10-1pm for community drop in, creative activities, and signposting to other services in the area. We also run outreach in Open the Book in a local school, youth outreach activities in partnership with local churches, and run an annual Alpha Course.
We have inherited a flat in Lockleaze as our second location. Our mission field will be in new housing developments in Lockleaze and Cheswick Village. We will be connecting with local people and contributing positively to organisations already active in the area. We have just launched a student and young adult work from here, beginning with Student Alpha.
What’s On?
Our vision for The Well builds on the independent identities and histories of the two churches that have joined together to form The Well, and takes inspiration from this verse for our shared future; “but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14 ESV
The Well is an independent church, but connected locally in Bristol with Woodlands, and supported nationally with Elim, agreeing to Elim’s doctrinal statements of belief.
The Well is led by one Senior Leadership Team and board of trustees. The Strategic Leader works with the Location Leaders and their teams, on outworking the vision through ministry and mission. The Chair and Deputy of Trustees oversees the governance of The Well, including safeguarding, finance and overseas missions. The Well was formed by two churches joining, and you can discover more about them below.

NLC is an independent, charismatic and evangelical church, who formally associates with the Woodlands group of churches. Together, they share the same heart and vision, especially for our own city, believing it will take all of us to see our city reached for Jesus and for it to flourish and grow.
Waterbrook Church is an Elim Network Church. We are an independent, charismatic and evangelical church, but connected to the Elim Pentecostal churches denomination. This means we can build local and regional relationships so this partnership can continue to further the Kingdom here in North Bristol, and beyond.
